The first Vertical Forest of Tirana stands in the center of the city, near the Great Park of the Albanian capital (Great Park of Tirana).
The new building, which shares a wall with an existing building, "opens like a flower" towards the city through the remaining three sides, housing 3,200 plants and shrubs along with 145 trees. With their full-height windows, the fully glazed facades allow the relationship between vegetation and city views to be fully maximized, allowing observers to appreciate the beauty of the plant mass that will have a significant mitigating effect on air pollution.
How does the Vertical Forest Work?
The irrigation system of the Vertical Forest was realized in cooperation with the Italian company of the agritech sector ENERGETHICAE
Irrigation is controlled by the central unit which, by means of an algorithm that processes the data received from the sensors of moisture, soil nutrient values and the meteorological station, distributes water and fertilizing food through the green balconies.
